“Climate chaos in the South. The victims’ story” is a documentary (53’) about the impact of climate change on the people in the South, told by victims and experts in three continents: Latin-America (Ecuador), Africa (Burkina Faso and Togo) and Asia (Bangladesh). The cases in the film are complementary, in the sense that together they represent the most important aspects of climate change, that have a strangling impact on men’s livelihoods: the seasons that seem to have a mind on their own, the downpours and cyclones that destroy all that stands, the droughts that scorch the Earth, the rising sea that is taking back land, and the terrible lack of sweet water. The Dead Will Guide Us is the story of how the dead and nature, particularly elephants, have brought the human and natural communities together for peacemaking and reconciliation. In November 2004, everyday gandhis supported Voinjama's first post-war traditional Mourning Feast. Over 5,000 people peacefully attended. A cow and several chickens were sacrificed, providing food for the entire town. During a traditional Mourning Feast the community comes together to settle their differences and, with drumming and dancing, conflicts are sent 'across the river' with the dead to their final resting place. By eating from the common bowl, people pledge to live in peace.
